Springsteen was based in the Philippines whilst researching and producing the work, and, when he returned to Melbourne, he brought the majority of his reference collection with him. Springsteen was a personal friend, and the specimen served in the JES Collection as a memento of our friendship, and homage to his achievement. A piece of conchological history with important provenance, and a beautiful shell besides. Data: Off Catbalogan, Northern Samar, Samar, Philippines. Size: 41.3 mm. Grading: Fine++. Provenance: 1) Foster James Springsteen, Melbourne; 2) JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
