| Note | An OUTSTANDING large specimen of the uncommon ‘WHITE’ form of this endemic Western Australian species – a perennial collector’s favourite. Massive, tarantula-like form, with wildly branching, markedly recurved varical fronds. Exemplary state of preservation. No longer freshly collected, with the locality now protected under the Dampier Marine Park, and Dampier Archipelago Island Reserves, with specimens of this size and quality now extremely difficult to obtain, coming only from choice old collections. Data: Off Dampier, Dampier Archipelago, Pilbara Region, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand/mud substrate, amongst mangrove, near mangrove roots, at extreme seasonal low tide; 1982. Size: 113.1 mm (longest dimension). Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
