| Item | # 0003990122 | | Family | Volutidae | | Name | Amoria lineola - RARE PERFECTION , Bail, P., & Limpus, A., 2009 |
| Size | 38.8 mm |
| Locality | Australia |
| Note | An extremely rare PERFECT specimen of this beautiful, deep-water, trawled, endemic Queensland species. As the Volutidae specialist will be aware, it is supremely difficult to obtain an example of this species in which the ultra-delicate anterior canal has not suffered some degree, (usually substantial), of damage during the trawling process. In the current specimen, the anterior canal is PERFECT. (See above right image.) Rich, well-curated colour. Pattern formed with the utmost regularity and clarity. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and nevr collcted since. No longer freshly collected, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. A lineola for the connoisseur. Data: Capricorn Channel, Queensland, Australia; upon fine-grained sediment substrate; 80-100 m; trawled; 1983. Size: 38.8 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
