| Note | An outstanding, large and beautiful specimen of the CURACAO form – the locality whence the least number of specimens have ever been collected. Very little dredging has ever taken place at this locality, with the known Curaçao specimens having been collected in the early 1990s. Characteristic deep yellow-cream ground. Now obtainable only from choice old collections. Curaçao examples are very seldom offered, and are lacking in the majority of Cypraeidae collections. This is the ONLY Curaçao specimen of the JES Collection. Definitely for the advanced Cypraeidae specialist requiring a first-specimen from this rare locality. Data: Off Boca Sint Michiel, Curaçao; upon sand/mud substrate; 40-60 m; dredged; 1991. Size: 40.5 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
