| Note | An OUTSTANDING large specimen, exhibiting exceedingly well-formed ultra-large, virtually circular lacunae. Exceedingly well-formed mantle line. Pronounced marginal nodes – the sign of hypermaturity in the species – in conjunction with marked weight and solidity. Supremely well-balanced, broadly ovate proportions – the classic leucodon form. Now extremely difficult to obtain at this level of quality, size, and beauty, with very few fresh specimens being collected today. Data: Davao Gulf, Davao, Mindanao, Philippines; upon sand/mud substrate; 100-200 m; tangle nets; 1994. Size: 80.5 mm. Grading: Fine++++ (one typical, miniscule, almost imperceptible irregularity to left hand side of dorsum). Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
