| Note | This is a huge, giant specimen of Concholepas concholepas in the best condition for such a size. This specimen is also rather rare because it has an orangish interior of the shell, which is usually whitish. Large specimens of Concholepas are now quite rare because this species is very heavily extracted, so obtaining one like this is very difficult. This specimen was collected by a diver in rather deep water (35 m depth), and it is in quite nice condition, with very minor flaws in the cleaned dorsum (which can be cleaned to perfection) and perfect lip borders, it also preserves it operculum, which is usually discarded. This is your opportunity to obtain a nice large aesthetic shell of a very popular species, the only extant Concholepas species and the largest gastropod found in northern Chile. |
