| Note | This is a huge, giant specimen of Concholepas concholepas in good condition for such a size. This is also a rare orange-interior shell, which usually has whitish interiors. Large specimens are now rare because this species is very heavily extracted, so obtaining one like this is very difficult. This one was collected in rather deep water by a diver, in an rocky outcrop far from the coast.
This shell has the border with one noticeable old scar where a barnacle was attached, but with no large chips, and with the dorsum lightly cleaned and still covered in many small barnacles, which can be cleaned with some patience. This specimen preserves it operculum, which is usually discarded. I am starting at a very low price for a specimen of this huge size due to the small flaws. |
