| Note | ULTRA-RARE "RED" COLOUR FORM......BEST OF THE BEST......Well depicted in Felix Lorenz's Cowries: A Guide to the Gastropod Family Cypraeidae, Volume 2, page 137, plate 64, fig.8. Although this specimen somewhat darker and richly coloured than the reference. With a striking mantle line & pattern. And exhibiting an endearing rich-pink dorsal hue with richer mauve/pink base, margins and ends, along with a very special dark dorsal blotch. Will take pride of place in any major collection. Grade: Gem/Gem- for the fussiest collector. Provenance: from my own collection (formerly Richard Centini Collection). Diver collected at night; 4m; Baie du Nickel, New Caledonia. |
