| Note | ENHANCED ELONGATUM. From Masbate, faked patterned V. elongatum. This species usually has a pattern when young, it disappears when the shell grows bigger: base color in tones of yellow, brown and eventually purple. In these shells, the pattern is remarkably extended, resulting in a rather pale and very dark colors which are pleasing to the eye. We do not know if the Reeve piece was fake, but both shells shown here are. In the left shell, the artist left a dark band in the center, in the right shell he only made pale the umbo and surrounding area.
