Hexaplex duplex f. saxatilis SUPERB SET
see description mm Senegal 79,00 €
|
|
| Item | # 0003998105 |
| Family | Muricidae |
| Name | Hexaplex duplex f. saxatilis - SUPERB SET , Linnaeus, 1758 |
| Size | See description mm |
| Locality | Senegal |
| Note | F+. The duplex is a complex of many local subspecies: it can even contain a number of different species. These giant hexaplex duplex, which occupy the Atlantic niche of the Indo-Pacific ramosus, are typical of Senegal. Normally the shells are not good enough for collections, but if you sort out MANY, you get what you see here: still bad, but acceptable. Don't expect gems, but this is about the best you can get of the Saxatilis forms, highly selected. The orange-red one is unusual and extremely rare on the market.
Reddish = 145 mm, Purplish = 144.1 mm.
Senegal. Yenne. March 2005.
