| Note | Fantastic transverse striped pattern specimen and rich pigmentation and color distribution. This pattern is a rarity among Zoila and specimens of this nature are occasionally advertised as the "plurifasciata" form. The exquisite form and hyper-glossy nacre lustre and unique lateral wall spotting are impressive. Super shape and symmetry with strong inflation, modest extremity rostration with excellent weight/size ratio (48.6 grams). The shell exhibits perfect extremities, aperture and base. Collected by Scuba diver Peter Clarkson at 14 meters grazing on a red (Spirastrella sp.) sponge on low lying limestone reef off Duke of Orleans Bay, Esperance, Western Australia in 5/2008. Handwritten data slip from Peter included. The shell displays a short glazed wobble on the labral anterior ramp not visible in images. Grade: GEM minus. |
