| Family | Cypraeidae |
| Name | Zoila marginata marginata - ROBUST TUBERCULATION , Gaskoin 1849 |
| Size | 63.2 mm |
| Locality | Carnac Island, Western Australia |
| Note | Lovely moderately sized marginata with modest rostration, a highly inflated body and excellent but sparse spotting/maculae painted on a primary ivory pigmented dorsum. The specimen shows an excellent nacre gloss, flawless extremities with modest flaring and robust tuberculation of the margins. The specimen exudes a porcelain-white base and exquisite marginal spotting. The shell is morphologically impressive, symmetrically balanced and shows strong nacre shine. The shell is very similar to the Holoytpe as shown in Lorenz F.; Cowries: A Guide to the Gastropod Family Cypraeidae; Volume 2, Page 237, Plate 114, No. 15. The shell was Scuba diver taken at 5-8 meters under a limestone reef ledge off Carnac Island, Fremantle, Western Australia. The specimen is difficult to flaw. EX: Don Pisor. Grade: GEM. |
