| Note | Superbly inflated solid specimen, with distinctive candy caramel brown almost pink lateral walls, margins and brown tipped extremities (43.9 grams).The dorsum shows an interesting/exceptional array of sparse dark brown maculae and a vast blue/grey/ivory primary hued dorsum. The lateral walls show deep shades of caramel brown mixed spotting. The base exudes various shades of coffee/caramel brown which accentuates the porcelain white aperture and teeth. A beautiful specimen with a thick glossy nacre and perfect extremities. The specimen was taken by Scuba diver Peter Clarkson at 40 meters while enjoying a sponge bath n a limestone reef west of Garden Island, Western Australia in 2/1996. The specimen is famous and illustrated in Australia's Spectacular Cowries on Plate 76, Figure b. EX: Peter Clarkson. No original data slip available. The shell has a small chip on the anterior columellar extremity tip and thin sheared mini-chip on the posterior columellar extremity tip. Grade: F++/F+++. |
