| Note | Heavy/huge Hawaiian specimen with an excellent weight/size ratio, similar to a big paper weight (83.5 grams). The shell has a thick calloused base with a strong array of four dorsal bands infused with chestnut red banding. Purple teeth complement the base showing typical subnacre concave indentations and subnacre dimples inter-proximal on the margins and base. There is a light longitudinal color line array on the mid-dorsum as seen in the photographs. Plucked by Scuba diver Michael Magnum at night from the side wall of a lava tube at 10-12 meters off North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii in 1/2015. The specimen shows subnacre inclusions on the anterior labral and columellar base. Grade: F+++. |
