| Note | Inflated and hyper-calloused member of this striking Hawaiian species. Brilliant color, thick nacre and superb reticulated pattern. Heavy shell, with thick calloused margins with tubercules and beautiful dark spotting extending over the margins and peripheral base. A solid shell with a strong weight/size ratio (73.4 grams) .The maculifera shows perfect extremities and base. Captured off Kaena Point. Oahu, Hawaii on night dive under a ledge at 8-10 meters in 2020. The typical has hard to see stress lines and are not considered faults on these specimens. There is evident a small dull area on the columellar mid-lateral wall. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
