NoteAn OUTSTANDING ultra-large specimen of the off-shore form, only collected during the 1970s by Taiwanese trawling operations undertaken off the northern Australian coast. Such examples are typically prone to substantial damage during life; do not readily form a regular pattern; and suffer additional damage during the trawling process. The current specimen is a rare exception. Superb pattern. Beautiful colour: honey-ochre markings, across a rich yellowish cream ground. Very difficult to obtain at this size and quality now, coming only from choice old collections. Data: Off northern Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 100-300 m; trawled; 1970s. Size: 103.1 mm. Grading: Fine++++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
