| Note | Solid ultra-thick nacred specimen from the southern zone of the thalamega range. The shell has good weight, sharp contoured extremities and strong dark spotting and maculae. It features a marvelous and distinctive dorsal pattern with a gleaming dark black/brown base with well-developed aperture teeth on the labral aperture lip. Present are perfect base, aperture teeth and margins. A beautiful specimen by most measures. The marina was taken from a sponge nested on a low profile reef by a Scuba diver at 41 meters off Kalbarri, Western Australia in 2/2004. The specimen displays small subtle partially glazed chips in the labral posterior extremity channel and one fully glazed on the labral anterior tip/channel. None of the chips are easily visible with the naked eye, but palpable on the posterior extremity. Grade: F+++/GEM minus. |
