NoteImpressive form, thick nacred and pattern-free dorsum collector's choice specimen of this rare Australian deep water form. Remarkable white dwarf shell with characteristic convex base, modestly depressed inflated oval body, and rounded margins. The kostini demonstrates mild cantaloupe orange extremities, soft ivory/nude dorsal primary pigmentation, soft and diffuse hint of lateral wall spotting, and a porcelain white base. Notable weight to size ratio (36.3 grs) complements this superb and significantly rare cowrie. Collected by ROV at 130-170 meters on flat sandy, shale/rubble substrate with sparse small sponges, fine weeds and rubble south of Augusta, Western Australia in 2015. The specimen shows one subtle growth wobble on the labral lateral wall. Grade: F+++/GEM minus.
