| Note | Remarkable hyper-calloused porcelain-like triple fat margins and a high weight/size ratio underscore this amazing ovate gibba subspecies (70.8 grams). The shell in hand is impressive. Notable reticulated pattern, mild tuberculation, lateral wall/thick margin interface. The shell shows a notable algae misty fog veil covering the dorsum, which is immaculately glazed. This specimen also shows a cream chocolate algae-based veil on the mid-dorsum and anterior ramp buried under a thick nacre gloss. The exceptionally thick calloused margins truly make this gibba a "fatso." Taken by local diver (fisherman) at 2-3 meters in rock crevice at Racha Islands, Phuket, Thailand 2/2018. The shell shows some anterior extremity subnacre self repairs and minor subnacre blemishes on the dorsum and labral lateral margin. Grade: F++/F+++. |
