| Note | Lovely and moderately large murex shell with perfect apex, siphonal canal and intact aperture lip. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate pin-stripping and axial cording on the body whorl. The beauty of this specimen are the elaborate striking erect structures branching into exceptional violet incurved foliaceous processes. The impact of the combined spiraling and elevated structures from the posterior view is exceptional. Collected off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka on sand/rubble substrate by tangle/trap net at 15-20 meters in 10/2020. There are two minor chipped tips of the anterior trailing erect structures above the siphonal canal Grade: F+++. |
