| Note | Excellent, elongate, heavy and strongly corded specimen with remarkable features in "superbus" condition. The larger murex exhibits perfect flutted and spiney winged varices, exceptional body whorl sculpturing, flawless apex, aperture and an exceptionally curved siphonal canal. The shell, when viewed directly from the ventral, exhibits complex varix anatomy, channels and nodular body whorl morphology, a collectors pride shell. Collected using tangle net at 100-150 meters in 1986 off Balicasag Island, Bohol, Philippines in 1989. Acquired from old collection. Close examination reveals micro-chipping of the siphonal canal channel and terminus. Grade: F+++/GEM minus. |
