| Note | Ship wrecked rusty chesnut cowrie from California. This is a colorful specimen, with a rusty/brown and burnt orange dorsum, black undulating halo and dark tangerine orange painted lateral walls. The specimen has perfect anterior and posterior siphons with perfect china white teeth and aperture. A lovely specimen of this rare uncommon pigmentation found within the species. Collected at 23-25 meters by the late/great Scuba diver Paul Kanner on the Star of Scotland wreck off Santa Monica Bay, California circa 2010. The shell displays subnacre/glazed inclusions covered by nacre on the posterior ramp as seen in images. Grade: F+++. |
