| Note | Slender, elongated, well-defined and colorful iconic specimen from the Chesterfield Group. The shell boasts a fantastic array of concentric knobs on the spire and shoulder with a thick natural lip and oblique plaits on the columella. The body whorl shows a fine delicate reticulated pattern, complemented by two prominent rose/ruby red axial bands on the cream white body whorl primary color. The shell shows a perfect apex, spire, natural lip with no growth folds and moderate nacre gloss. The shell was trawled off the Bellona Reefs, Chesterfield Islands, New Caledonia at 30-35 meters in the 80s. The shell shows mild erosion of the notch. Grade: GEM minus. |
