NoteThe shell features high spire, convex whorls, and a pale buff to light orange-brown color, often with faint spiral bands. The shell is characterized by a high and very fine dense axial body whorl spiral threads. The base color is pale buff light orange-brown and the inner lip lacks the typical deep plaits seen in most volute species. The shell has a remarkably and disproportionately large and bent bud-shaped protoconch. Trawled on mud substrate by fisherman at 100-120 meters off the Alulhas Bank, Cape Agulhas, South Africa in 5/1989. The specimen shows some growth lines on the ventral and dorsal body whorl, with palpable roughness of the central/anterior lip and notch. Grade: F++.
