| Note | An EXCEPTIONAL ULTRA-RED specimen – about as red as is naturally possible for one of these rare and singular examples. VERY RARE QUALITY for such a dark red example. The majority of extreme deep red mappa are marred by numerous large algal inclusions, but the current specimen is an exception, exhibiting nothing but a couple of truly tiny typical algal dots – negligible when measured against such striking colour, maturity, and overall quality. The colour combination created between the deep rose ventrum, and the rich orange dentition is one of supreme beauty. Resplendent ultra-thick gloss. Impeccably curated, with its exceptional colour as fresh as if collected this year. ULTRA-SOLID and HEAVY, with pronounced marginal and ventral callosity, tending towards rostration. NOTE: It is impossible to photograph this ultra-glossy, deep red-pink shell without the background being reflected in its gloss. Thus, the seemingly lower register of colour in the above right image is but a reflection of the pale background. In reality, the marginal colour is far DARKER than that seen here.
