| Note | An EXCEPTIONAL ultra-large, ULTRA-DARK specimen, exhibiting fabulous colour: a confluence of super dark chocolate maculae, (reading almost as black), across a rich grey-blue ground, with a subtle flash of a rust red mantle line at the dorsal crest. Spectacular margins, with enormous ultra-dark chocolate principal maculae, and deep blue-grey underlying secondary maculae. Hypermature: markedly solid and heavy for size, with pronounced marginal and ventral callosity. Characteristic depressed ovate form. A top level, recently collected specimen of this elusive subspecies for the advanced Cypraeidae specialist. Data: Off Matautu, Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands; upon reef substrate; 20-22 m; dived; 2024. Size: 79.9 mm. Grading: Fine++++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
