A MAGNIFICENT ULTRA-LARGE specimen of the uncommon HAWAI’IAN ISLANDS form, exhibiting extremely rich and beautiful colour, with a particularly colourful ventrum. Supremely well-formed dorsal pattern. Markedly broad, ovate form, of exquisitely symmetrical proportions. Hypermature, with pronounced marginal and ventral callosity, and great weight and solidity. Data: Yokohama Bay, off Ka’ena Point, North Shore, Oahu, City and County of Honolulu, Hawai’ian Islands; upon coral reef substrate, under ledge, at night; 9 m; dived; 2001. Size: 51.6 mm. Grading: Fine++++ (exceedingly tiny fray to one side of anterior terminal). Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
