Note

A beautiful periostracum-free specimen, displaying a refined beige ground color elegantly overlaid with coppery-brown mottling and complemented by a truly spectacular beige labellum. The absence of periostracum allows the shell’s natural luster and delicate chromatic nuances to be fully appreciated—an important aesthetic advantage for advanced collectors. Morphologically, it is clearly distinguishable from Plekocheilus episcopalis corticosus by its more slender spire, a less rounded body whorl, and a more pronounced columellar fold—diagnostic features that enhance both its taxonomic interest and its desirability within specialized collections of Andean terrestrial gastropods. This specimen was found among the leaf litter of a humid montane forest at 1450 meters above sea level, collected by local inhabitants in January 2025. Its precise ecological origin and recent field data add valuable context and authenticity—qualities increasingly appreciated in today’s international malacological market.
