NoteAn OUTSTANDING specimen of this ENDEMIC MARQUESAN form – the most beautiful incarnation of the species. For anyone who has not yet personally encountered this form, the size; depth of gloss; richness of colour; weight and solidity; and expansive, markedly depressed disc-like form, all combine to produce a shell in a different league to those typically encountered from more standard localities. Ultra-dark cocoa, decorated with yellowish white maculae. PERFECTION for the Cypraeidae connoisseur. Data: Off Matautu, Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands; upon reef substrate; 20-22 m; dived; 2025. Size: 34.6 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
