| Item | # 0004061229 |
| Family | Trochidae |
| Name | Tegula atra - large , (R. P. Lesson, 1831) |
| Size | 51 x 40.2 mm |
| Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
| Note | A nice, large (H=40.2 mm, W=51 mm), and heavy specimen of Tegula atra. This species is endemic of PerĂº and Chile. Usually these species have either dorsums covered with calcareous algae (like this one) or very eroded dorsums. This one was collected by fisherme and it is in very good condition for the species as it has a very nice lip with no chips but a few tiny nicks (alas, no operculum). |
