Representative specimen of a very rare species. Almost never offered and quite scarce in collections. Most specimens sold as Conus scalaris are actually Conus scalarissimus, which is only found in Mexico, while the true scalaris is only found in Central America.
This one was found dead, washed ashore after a strong surge.
It comes from an old collection.
