Plococidaris sp. nov. – rare large cidaroid with complete spines – 39 mm test Plococidaris sp. nov. – an apparently undescribed cidaroid species comparable to Plococidaris verticillata, yet distinctly larger and clearly differing in primary spine morphology, test characters and colour pattern. Large specimen: Test diameter 39 mm (without spines) Total diameter with spines approx. 95–100 mm. Well-preserved specimen with complete primary spines and excellent overall condition. The spine morphology is striking and immediately distinguishes this form from described congeners. Specimens of this form are only very rarely encountered on the market. Large, complete examples such as this are particularly difficult to obtain and seldom available. An uncommon and taxonomically interesting cidaroid, suitable for collectors who appreciate distinctive and unusual modern echinoids. Determined and curated by an echinoid specialist.
