| Note | A super rare goldie that we collected from 138 metres of water south of Augusta. It was dead collected from sand in a sponge garden. Unfortunately the habitat in which we find raywalkeri is shared with a large species of leather jacket fish that is extremely aggressive and commonly attacks our ROV and it's umbilical that can result in significant damage. They have razor sharp chisel teeth and have the bad habit of nipping the mantles of Zoila. The majority of specimens found have dorsal teeth scrapes and/or siphon chips. The shells animals heal and re-glaze this damage but true gems are very few and far between. The specimen is graded Fine+ due to very minor coral on base and anterior siphon. Anterior siphon damage and dorsal nacre chip. The base has some nacre windowing. Even though it was dead collected the nacre is glossy. A gem shell of this size and colour would be priced up around the $30,000 mark. |
