| Note | One very interesting Natural History Curiosity: Two specimens, measuring about 10 mm and 4 mm in maximum dimensions, of the recently described nestling bivalve Petricola ramirezi Araya & Osorio, 2019 from Caldera, northern Chile. This species was discovered nestling inside empty cirripedian (Balanus laevis) shells, and thus it has rather variable shell outlines. This lot includes two specimens still inside empty Balanus laevis chambers in a colony washed ashore. As they grow they get stuck in these chambers. This is the only nestling Petricola in the southeastern Pacific, and it is rather rare. A very low initial price for an interesting lot. |
