| Note | A very nice and selected specimen of Priene scabrum without periostracum, collected washed ashore fresh dead. This species is the only representative of the genus Priene, a genus endemic to the southeastern Pacific. This is the only Ranellidae found in shallow waters in northern Chile. The shell of this species is usually in very bad condition, with broken protoconch and eroded first whorls. They also have a thick but dehiscent brown hairy periostracum, which hiddens the very nice spiral and axial sculpture in this species. This is a selected small specimen without periostracum, showing the nice sculpture of the shell. |
