| Note | One very nice and large specimen of Chiton barnesi, a rare small-sized species of shallow water chiton from northern Chile. This species is hard to obtain as it is very endemic, being found in only 3 latitudinal degrees of coast in northern Chile. They are also naturally scarce in their habitat, and they are of the same color as the rocks where they live. This specimen was prepared flat, with the soft parts dry and it is in excellent condition for the species, with no erosion or damage to the valves, girdle or borders. A rare and hard-to-obtain species endemic from Chile. |
