| Note | An EXCEPTIONAL specimen of this exceedingly beautiful endemic Marquesan subspecies. RARE QUALITY. As this subspecies inhabits rocky reefs, secreting itself under ledges and within crevices, specimens often exhibit consequent scratches. The current specimen, by contrast, is of the finest possible quality, being devoid of all such detracting marks. Hypermature, with pronounced weight and solidity. Well-formed dorsal pattern of high aesthetic merit. Rarely offered at this level of quality and beauty. Data: Baie de Hakatea, Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands; upon coral reef substrate, under ledge; 3-6 m; dived; 2024. Size: 59.4 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
