A superb, very large specimen of this supremely beautiful species, from the very ‘old days’ of New Zealand availability – the equal oldest specimen of the JES Collection, (along with the historical Cypraea spadicea also offered in this sale). Ultra-rich apertural interior colours. Lightly inked original collection data to apertural interior, (see above right image), which can easily be removed with water, but I would advise it be left ‘in situ’, for the purposes of verification of locality and collection date. Data: ‘Tekutataki’, New Zealand; upon rock reef substrate; 1-2 m; dived; 1952. Size: 147 mm. Grading: Fine++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
