A truly gigantic species within its genus, only recently described by Roosen M.T., Hortúa Herrera J. & Dorado C. (2025). The name “Goliath” aptly refers to its extraordinary dimensions, comparable to those of the legendary giant of Greek mythology, making it an imposing and unforgettable presence within its taxonomic group. The protoconch and early whorls display a warm yellow coloration that gradually transitions into a beautiful orange hue toward the body whorl, producing an elegant and highly attractive chromatic gradient. The shell is markedly pyramidal and deeply depressed in profile, giving it a bold and distinctive architectural appearance. The aperture is triangular and lacks an operculum, while delicate whitish oblique striae ornament the whorls. The parallel grooves extending across the entire shell surface are particularly pronounced, creating remarkable texture and visual depth. The specimen shows minor lip damage, genuine evidence of survival in its native habitat. The umbilicus is sealed by a well-defined umbilical callus. Collected in very fresh condition in Andean cloud forest at 1,680 meters above sea level in August 2025, this specimen originates from an ecosystem of exceptional biodiversity that is becoming increasingly threatened, making comparable material progressively scarcer. As a recently described giant species, specimens of this caliber seldom appear on the international auction market. An exceptional opportunity to acquire a monumental and recently described taxon at an early stage of its history.
