Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Pozo Izquierdo (Arinaga); collected during a night dive, July 2024. Shell height 61 mm. GBIF-registered specimen. - | - Recently described Canary Islands endemic, distinct from Manupecten pesfelis by the absence of the strong regular radial ribs characteristic of that species and by its more finely striate shell sculpture. Exceptional orange colour form of this rarely encountered pectinid. Exterior warm orange to golden-orange, with diffuse reddish bands and scattered darker markings. The shell retains an attractive overall appearance despite minor wear associated with life in confined crevice habitats. Portions of the fine radial sculpture exhibit localized abrasion and slight crumbling, most likely resulting from prolonged contact with surrounding rock surfaces. - | - The specimen is remarkably clean and free of significant encrustation. One valve bears a few minute micro-borings, of which a single perforation reaches the shell interior; all remaining borings are superficial. Interior surfaces are clean, lustrous. Shell margins, auricles, and overall form remain well preserved. - | - A highly attractive institutional reference specimen, distinguished by its uncommon orange coloration, large size, unusually clean preservation, and relevance as a recently described Canary Islands endemic taxon.
