LOTTIIDAE - Lottia mitella (Menke, 1847). SPECIAL ELEVATED VOLCANO FORM AND STRIPED PATTERN WOOOW!! Unusual extra elevated like "VOLCANO" shape with elegant striped pattern. Hard to get species with such a nice conditions and striped elegant pattern, for all with intact lip and amazing ventral side. Note that this species at this larges sizes are coming always with erosion on top, this is really usual. F+++-F++ Apparently feeding on the marine soup that comes and goes with the currents, waves and seaweeds attached to the smooth stones, this species lives where the waves break and in the intertidal zone. Really hard to remove from stones without braking them. Found attached to the rocks with green and brown algae at extremely low tide. North Playa La Calechosa, Bahia de Cuastecomates, Jalisco, Mexico. May 2026. Value for this striking striped pattern with extreme elevated dorsal shape: 12-15 euro. Good luck and Happy shelling!!!
