| Note | Interesting periostracum-free specimen displaying an elegant beige ground color beautifully overlaid with coppery-brown blotches. The aperture and peristome are uniformly beige, creating a particularly attractive overall appearance. A small perforation is present on the fourth whorl. Plekocheilus episcopalis auriformis can be distinguished from P. episcopalis corticosus by its more slender spire, a less rounded body whorl, and a more pronounced columellar fold. These diagnostic characteristics make it an especially desirable specimen for collectors and researchers interested in the variation within the P. episcopalis complex. Collected among leaf litter in a humid forest at 1,450 meters above sea level by local inhabitants in January 2025. A seldom-offered Andean land snail and an excellent opportunity to acquire a representative specimen of this distinctive taxon for an advanced collection. |
