Item# 0004180200
FamilyBursidae
NameLampasopsis thomae , (A. d'Orbigny, 1853)
Size35–39 mm
LocalityFortunate Isles of Macaronesia
NoteAgaete, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Reef habitat at 27 m depth; collected by a local diver during a night dive, January 2023. Set of three specimens ranging from 35–39 mm in shell length, all retaining the operculum. Very clean and attractive material, with well-preserved apertures, intact marginal lips, and strongly expressed variceal sculpture. Exterior surfaces comparatively free of encrustation, allowing the pale beige to warm orange-brown colouration and sculptural details to remain clearly visible. Overall, a particularly fine small reference series of Lampasopsis thomae, notable for its clean preservation, retained opercula, and collection from deeper nocturnal reef habitat off Agaete.
