| Note | Malmok, Aruba, scuba diving at 4–6 meters depth on a sparse grass/sand bottom at night. Well over 50 mm! A large and heavy shell. This uncommon species is endemic to Aruba and found in a small seagrass area near Malmok (hunting during the night). Conus monicae is generally larger and broader than the closely related Conus curassaviensis. The shell has a perfect lip and no visible growth lines, which is uncommon, especially given its size. With operculum. Just a very tiny one which probably does not serve much of a function (evolutionary remnant?). Grade: (Gem-) |
