NoteA SPECTACULAR large specimen of this elegant species. RARE QUALITY – PERFECTION – with all varical fronds in an exemplary state of preservation. (NOTE: Indented areas of varices are NOT damage. This is the varical structure of the species.) Retention of original, singular operculum, with radial lines of red. Somewhat available during the 1980s Senegalese dregings, but now only from old collections, and seldom at this level of size, quality, and beauty. Definitely for the Muricidae specialist seeking a ‘BEST of the BEST’ example. Data: Off Gorée, Dakar, Senegal; upon sand substrate; 25 m; dredged; 1986. Size: 43.6 mm. Grading: Gem; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
