The subspecies is endemic to a highly geographically restricted area, which now lies within the Swain Reefs National Park, and no fresh examples will be available in future. Specimens are now obtainable only from the choicest old collections, and seldom at the level of quality and beauty. Such specimens have now become highly desirable ‘collector’s items’.
