| Note | Playa de La Camellita, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Collected by a local freediver, August 2024, from an isolated and largely undisturbed coastal landscape. Found dead on sand (d/c). Exceptionally attractive and very rare pale colour form, with an almost white ground colour and diffuse violet to lilac transverse bands. Brown pigmentation is greatly reduced. Radial channels are only weakly expressed across much of the shell surface, giving the specimen an unusually smooth and delicate appearance. Auricles intact. Overall a highly distinctive comparative specimen, notable for its exceptionally pale violet colouration and unusual reduction of the radial sculpture. The only specimen of this colour form currently represented in the collection. (uncleaned, could benefit from careful further cleaning) |
