| Note | Embarcadero del Muelle de La Rajita, La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain. Collected dead (d/c) by a diver at 12 m depth, July 2024. Shell height 65 mm. GBIF-registered specimen. Recently described Canary Islands endemic, distinguished from Manupecten pesfelis by its finer, more numerous radiating ribs and overall more delicate radial sculpture. Exterior warm pinkish-brown to salmon-brown, with pale cream radial zones and well-preserved fine radiating sculpture throughout. Interior white. Shell and auricles remain intact and well developed, with only minor irregularities along the marginal outline. A large, well-preserved comparative specimen. |
