| Note | Remarkable, mature, massive and hyper-inflated extra large beauty from southern Australia. The specimen shows a wide columellar centered golden dorsal blotch, perfect extremities and notable convex base form. The shell is significant, with exemplary nacre gloss, strong inflated body form and impressive when hand held. These specimens are rarely collected today after Australian restrictions were imposed beginning with the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. The shell was trawled at 140-160 meters on sand and rubble substrate in the Great Australian Bight, off Ceduna, South Australia in 2000. One soft palpable wobble present on the labral anterior lateral wall ramp, part of the typical labral raised transverse ridges present on the majority of larger specimens and not considered flaws. Grade: GEM minus. |
