Outstanding example of this much sought after Umbilia, with distinctive copper/buff brown dorsal botch, thick glossy nacre and perfect extremities that are highlighted by darker flesh/desert sand brown hues. The shell is moderately heavy for its size (66.1g) and shows remarkable form and a somewhat distinctive wide/wavy mantle line paired by rows smaller dots. The shell is wonderfully inflated and strongly rostrated. Although smaller size, this ia a glistening beauty. Trawled at 160 meters off the western Great Australian Bight, Esperance, Western Australia circa 2010. There is present a micro-subnacre and negligible sand grain inclusion on the mid-dorsum. Grade: GEM minus.
